What is DFF Product SKU data feed?

Other Uses of DFF Product SKUs data feed

DFF product sku data feed can also be used as UPC / ISBN database and unique product identifier. Merchants can also use our Product SKU data feed to help complete product information in their internal database.

When you are a subscriber, you will be given a unique User ID and Password to login to our FTP server to download our Product SKU files.

Once you are logged into the FTP server your will see a lot of files, but there are 3 files you should read first.

1. license.txt - read this file first to understand your rights and terms of using these data
2. manifest.txt - tab delimited file to provide a consistent way to list, use and find files to download.
3. readme.txt - a very short explanation file which points to this wiki documentation.

List of actual data files:

File naming convention: DFF_SKU_<sku_start_number>-<sku_end_number>.<extension>

tab files - all files ending in .tab are tab delimited files (ascii character # 9).

zip files - all files ending in .zip contains 1 compressed tab delimited file in them.

Both file types contains the same format! See format and field header below.

File Compression (.zip):

Compressed files were compressed using *nix gzip program which may not be compatible with many Microsoft Windows zip uncompress programs. We recommend to used the following program to un-compress the files in Windows:

7-zip (have both command line + gui)

Microsoft Windows Ported gzip / gunzip

1. Fields that may contain special (unpredictable) characters such as Short Description (shortdesc), Manufacturer Part No (mfgpartno), Manufacturer Model (mfgmodel) are UTF-8 encoded. So when parsing you should first split the fields using TAB (character 9) then UTF-8 decode those specific fields which may contain special characters.
2. All files are regular text files using *nix LF (line feed only) instead of DOS CRLF (carriage-return + line-feed).
3. Each fields are TAB (ascii char # 9) delimited.
4. Each file only contain a maximum of 99,999 Product SKUs.
5. Each file start *without* header line.

Also provided in the FTP access are several supplemental data feeds used for cross-referencing data from main data feed files:
Merchants List data feed : DFF_merchant.tab / DFF_merchants.zip
Category List data feed : DFF_category.tab / DFF_category.zip
Manufacturer List data feed : DFF_mfg.tab / DFF_mfg.zip

During private beta, this service is free of charge. Beta will end middle of August 2008 and current beta users must transition to Phase 1 subscription.
Phase 1 (minimal product information) : subscription price is $99.95 per month for each domain name / web site.
Phase 2 (complete product information) : subscription price is $199.95 per month for each domain name / web site.
Phase 3 (complete product information + price comparison merchants) : subscription price is $499.95 per month for each domain name / web site.
If you have multiple domains / web sites you will not have to pay full subscription price for each one, you will simply pay 1 full price and each additional for $29.95 per month.

Current deployment of DFF Product SKUs feed download only contain basic information about each Product SKU, we call this version (Phase 1).
Phase 2 will be available about end of August 2008 which will include Number of Stores, Minimum - Maximum price and Stores List for each product SKU.

2. Read the agreement, sign-it and fax it back to 832-901-9364.
3. Wait for email reply with FTP access information.

Disputes
